Dallas Homebuyer Assistance Program

Dallas Homebuyer Assistance Program (DHAP):

  • Purpose: financial assistance for low- and moderate-income homebuyers in Dallas
  • Eligibility: U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible immigration status with valid social security card
  • Annual household income: at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for household size
  • Assistance amount: up to $60,000 in high opportunity areas and $50,000 in all other locations in Dallas
  • Housing payment: may not exceed 35% of buyer’s monthly gross income
  • Home maximum sales price: $271,000 for existing properties and new construction

Targeted Occupations Homebuyer Assistance Program:

  • Purpose: homeownership opportunities for those in educational instruction, healthcare, and protective services occupations
  • Eligibility: U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible immigration status with valid social security card
  • Homebuyer incomes: above 80% and not exceed 120% of the AMI for household size
  • Assistance amount: up to $50,000
  • Sales price limit: none, determined by mortgage lender based on borrower’s mortgage qualifying income and credit
  • Housing payment: may not exceed 35% of buyer’s monthly gross income

Anti-Displacement Homebuyer Assistance Program (DHAP 10):

  • Purpose: homeownership opportunities for current Dallas residents who have lived within the city limits of Dallas for at least 10 years collectively
  • Eligibility: U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible immigration status with valid social security card, current resident of Dallas with at least 10 years of residency within the city limits
  • Homebuyer incomes: between 50% and not exceed 120% of the AMI for household size
  • Assistance amount: up to $50,000
  • Sales price limit: none, determined by mortgage lender based on borrower’s mortgage qualifying income and credit
  • Housing payment: may not exceed 35% of buyer’s monthly gross income
